Olymel Restructuring, Shifting Product Volumes
April 26, 2010 - Olymel l.p. announced today that it would embark on an extensive reorganizing of operations at its poultry products processing and pre-packaging plant in the Iberville district of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, which will result in the loss of 183 jobs and changes in three of its other facilities specializing in poultry.

Quebec-Ontario Trade and Cooperation Agreement
April 24, 2010- The Ministers of Agriculture for Ontario and Quebec have agreed on a common action plan to promote better agri-food sector integration and competitiveness between the two provinces, and will work with industry partners to address common matters facing the chicken and hog sectors.

April 19, 2010 -  The organizers of VIV Europe have decided to go forward with as planned April 20-22 in Utrecht, the Netherlands, despite the impact of the Icelandic volcano eruption on air travel in Europe.

Targeted DDGS Fractions for Poultry Possible
April 16, 2010 - Research has shown wheat distillers dried grain with solubles (DDGS), the main co-product of Prairie ethanol production, can have good feeding value for livestock when dried properly. Eduardo Beltranena, feed research scientist with Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development, says existing ethanol plants can make this possible with little investment.

Sunnymel Makes Further Investment in N.B. Slaughterhouse
April 7, 2010 - Sunnymel, the partnership formed by Olymel l.p. and Westco announced today that they have taken a new step towards completing a project to build a poultry slaughtering, cutting and deboning plant in New Brunswick.

April 5, 2010 - The Department of Poultry Science – Cooperative Extension at North Carolina State University is offering unique training for the international poultry industry with emphases on breeders, incubation and hatchery management, nutrition and feed mill technology, grow out of broilers and turkeys, environment, health and welfare.
