October 30, 2009- BMD Soluble has
been approved for use in drinking water as an aid in the prevention of
necrotic enteritis in broiler chickens caused by Clostridium
perfringens susceptible to bacitracin.
The use of BMD Soluble in
the drinking water of broiler chickens puts bacitracin, the active
ingredient of BMD soluble, immediately at the site in the intestine
where Clostridium perfringens, the cause of Necrotic enteritis, proliferates.
The occurrence of Necrotic enteritis is unpredictable. Use of BMD
Soluble gives immediate protection -there is no need to wait until BMD
medicated feed can be delivered. BMD Soluble does not contain
penicillin, an antibiotic which is important in human medicine and to
which some people are sensitive. BMD Soluble is not absorbed from the
intestine and has a zero day withdrawal when used according to label
directions.
BMD Soluble is
used prior to
anticipation of mortality due to necrotic enteritis, based on past
history on the farm and at the first suspicion of the disease. It is
approved at two dosages, until BMD 110 G can be delivered in the feed.
BMD soluble uses the same manufacturing process as BMD 110 G.
Label indications are the same, eg. as an aid in the prevention of
necrotic enteritis. BMD 110 G has the additional claim: Broiler
chickens for reduction of early mortality due to diminished feed
consumption and chilling ( 110 ppm ).
BMD Soluble comes in a pail with 25 kg packages; BMD 110 G comes in 25
kg bags. Both products have a zero day withdrawal when used according
to label directions.
Product is available wherever animal health products are sold. Note:
According to Provincial law, BMD Soluble must be prescribed by a
Veterinarian in the Province of Quebec, as are all medications.
