Yorkshire Valley Farms' award goes to students passionate about organic agriculture practices.
Yorkshire Valley Farms and the Guelph Organic Conference have announced that applications for the 2021 Yorkshire Valley Farms Canadian Eco-Scholar Award are now open.
Through Yorkshire Valley Farms’ financial support, the award now includes a total of $10,000 in funding to be awarded to four Canadian students.
It is intended to provide financial support for Canadian students in any area of study, so long as they are passionate about organic agriculture practices and how they can be a force for good in our society.
To apply for an award, students are being asked to submit a video of up to two minutes in length in which they express the role they hope to play in the organic regenerative movement.
The video format will give students a chance to tell the judging panel about themselves, how they are engaged in organics and how they intend to use their studies and actions to progress organic regenerative practices in their communities.
“We’re extremely excited to partner with the Guelph Organic Conference on the Eco-Scholar initiative and can’t wait to hear what Canadian students are working on and how they intend to play a role in progressing the organic regenerative movement,” says James Sculthorpe, CEO of Yorkshire Valley Farms.
“It is our belief that supporting and celebrating our next generation of innovators and leaders plays a critical role in building a resilient and vibrant sector,” says James Sculthorpe, CEO Yorkshire Valley Farms.
The Eco-Scholar Award was launched in 2004 by the Guelph Organic Conference. Under the new partnership with Yorkshire Valley Farms, the 2021 Awards will go to four Eco-Scholars for a total give-away of $10,000, distributed as follows:
- One $5,000 first place award
- Two $2,000 second place awards
- One $1,000 third place award
The 2021 Yorkshire Valley Farms Canadian Eco-Scholar Award is open to all residents of Canada, except Quebec, who are 16 years of age or older, and are full-time students actively enrolled in a Canadian academic institution. All areas of study are eligible.
The application form, including full rules and regulations, can be found at guelphorganicconf.ca/eco-scholar Applications must be submitted by March 19, 2021.
