Oct. 3, 2008 – Epidemics and pandemics such as mad cow disease and bird flu have
highlighted the importance of a mass carcass-disposal emergency plan
for Peace River, B-C.

Recently, the Peace River Regional District created such a
document and now it wants input from those who would be affected in
the case of mass animal death from either disease or natural

District chair Karen Goodings adds the push for the region to
create a mass carcass-disposal plan came from the province and as
one of the largest producers of livestock in B-C, it made sense for
the district to get a plan drafted.
Included is the creation of a “destruction group'' in case of a
need to control a disease outbreak.
