November 3, 2008- Chicken Farmers of Canada (CFC) welcomes the Prime Minister's reappointment of the Honourable Gerry Ritz, PC, MP, as Canada's Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board.

"On behalf of CFC, I would like to congratulate Minister Ritz on his reappointment as Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food," said David Fuller, Chairman of Chicken Farmers of Canada, "Given the critical times ahead for
Canada's chicken industry at the WTO, we are reassured by the fact that the Minister has been directly involved in the negotiations, knows the players and issues involved, and will continue to stand up for a balanced trade position that makes sense for Canada."
In addition, CFC welcomes the Honourable Stockwell Day as Minister of International Trade and the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn as Minister of State (Agriculture). Both are experienced ministers and we look forward to meeting with them to discuss the critical issues at stake for our industry.
"We look forward to working with each of these Ministers, and indeed with all Members of Parliament to support the three pillars of supply management and ensure that all stakeholders in the Canadian chicken industry can continue to invest with confidence in a sustainable and successful future," said Mr.Fuller.
