Disease watch: Avian influenza – HPAI H5N6, OIE – Sweden

LOCATION: Nogersund, Solvesborg, Blekinge Län, Sweden
DETAILS: A wild bird was found dead and was sent to the National Veterinary Institute for analysis as part of the routine surveillance of avian influenza. In accordance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Article 10.4.1, point 8, this outbreak does not change the disease-free status of Sweden as this is a wild bird, and therefore do not fall within the OIE definition of poultry.
