DATE: December 2, 2020

LOCATION: Niagara, Ont.

DETAILS: Infectious Laryngotracheitis (ILT) has been diagnosed in a 141,208-bird broiler chicken farm in the Smithville area of Niagara. The Feather Board Command Centre is coordinating efforts of feather boards to notify all poultry farmers and growers within the established 10 km Biosecurity Advisory Area.

In one of the three barns, 600 birds died within two days. The surviving birds in the affected barn have been sent to slaughter. The other two barns have shown no clinical signs and are scheduled for slaughter this week. The farm has self quarantined and is working with their veterinarian on control, clean up and recovery procedures.
