“We feel as though the long and mythical history associated with ginseng in the Far East makes our Granny’s Poultry Ginseng-Fed Whole Chicken the perfect accompaniment for the Chinese New Year, the most important festivity in the Chinese calendar,” says Chef Jason Wortzman, Granny’s Poultry Director of Marketing and Product Development. “In anticipation we’ve been working with participating retailers to develop some great promotions centered around the holiday."

The Canadian farmer-owned cooperative launched the nutritionally balanced chicken last summer. Since then, it has been very well received by Canadian consumers across Western Canada and has also been integrated into numerous restaurant menus.

“I’m a huge fan of Granny’s Ginseng-Fed Chicken!” says Gord Harris, Executive Chef at the soon-to-open Amici Restaurant at Niakwa Country Club, Winnipeg. “I’ve cooked with it a lot since it came on the market and I will continue to do so at my new restaurant. The quality of meat is great – so tender and juicy – and the flavour is amazing.”

Granny’s Poultry Ginseng-Fed Chicken is the only product of its kind in North America. The addition of ginseng to a diet already rich in omega-3 enriched specialty grains produces healthy, high quality chickens. The herb acts as an antioxidant and results in a very lean and juicy product that is more tender than regular chicken.

Granny’s Poultry is a farmer-owned poultry cooperative committed to health, nutrition and wellness by providing consumers with high-quality chicken and turkey products. Granny’s farmers use the exclusive Sungrown® feeding program for the Ginseng-Fed Whole Chicken using Premium North American Ginseng.
