Maple Leaf Foods completes new Ontario poultry processing plant

Spending nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars on a new poultry processing facility in London, Ontario, Maple Leaf Foods announced it was completed ahead of schedule and will start up in Q4 2022.
The new 660,000-square-foot facility is the equivalent of over 11 football fields and will provide the company with greater flexibility and capacity to meet consumer demand for chicken products.
Along with testing new processing and packaging equipment, the company has begun hiring people—600 by the end of 2022 and 1,600 in total for when the plant reaches full capacity.
