Top 4 Under 40 Series: Harley Siemens

July 14, 2021
By Brett Ruffell

Harley Siemens spearheaded his family’s transition to an aviary system. The pullet and first layer barns were built last year while the last layer barn opened this past March.

Harley Siemens is an egg and pullet farmer based in Rosenort, Man. He co-manages Siemens Farms with his dad Kurt. In recent years, he led his farm’s transition to aviary housing. This was a complex project that included building both layer and pullet aviary barns. He’s also a tireless educator and advocate for the egg industry and supply management.

In the first instalment of Canadian Poultry’s Top 4 Under 40 podcast series, editor Brett Ruffell talks to Siemens about his egg farming background, leadership he’s shown on the farm and his already lengthy advocacy record.

Canadian Poultry launched the Top 4 Under 40 program this year to recognize young poultry leaders. Four finalists are chosen based on their on-farm leadership, innovation and advocacy. We then recognize them in this Top 4 Under 40 podcast series.
