Jul. 26, 2012, Mexico City, Mexico – Mexico will begin vaccinating 10 million poultry against the H7N3 bird flu that has lead to the death of 5 million birds.

According to an article from Agence-France Presse, Mexican President Felipe Calderon wants to end up vaccinating 80 million birds to end the epidemic and put Mexico back on track.

The poultry industry “contributes up to 40 percent of the total volume” of the country’s livestock production said the agriculture ministry, and the loss from the epidemic “is and will be irreparable.”
