Feb. 7, 2008, Ottawa – The New Year is off to a good start for 4-H in Canada thanks to a
donation by Farm Credit Canada (FCC) to mark the first Ag Day in Canada
held Jan. 23, 2008.

A longtime supporter of the 4-H program, FCC furthered its commitment
to 4-H by announcing the donation as part of its first-ever national
celebration of agriculture. Ag Day in Canada involved events in nearly
100 locations, and provided leading-edge information to producers and
agribusiness operators regarding the 2008 production year and
celebrated those who live and breathe agriculture.

“We are grateful our friends at FCC believe in the future of
agriculture,” said Bob McAuley, president of the Canadian 4-H Council.
“With this investment, we can ensure even more youth will experience
the many benefits of the 4-H program.”

FCC President and CEO Greg Stewart says the contribution to 4-H will
help youth to explore agriculture and discover their passion for the
industry. “We’re pleased to continue our support of 4-H. We know that
it can influence young people and create a lifelong interest in
agriculture.”

The dollars will be shared between the national and provincial 4-H
organizations, focusing mainly on supporting the provincial clubs.

FCC and 4-H have been working together to promote agriculture to young
people for over 20 years. The $85,000 is in addition to a $600,000,
four-year commitment from FCC to support growth of the 4-H program
coast to coast.

FCC is Canada's largest provider of business and financial services to
farms and agribusiness. Operating out of 100 offices located primarily
in rural Canada, FCC employees are passionate about the business of
agriculture. A healthy portfolio of more than $13 billion and 14
consecutive years of portfolio growth are a reflection of their
customers' success.

4-H is one of the country’s longest-running youth organizations,
offering fun, excitement and learning for youth in communities large
and small across Canada. Trained volunteer Leaders help 4-H Members
develop self-confidence and learn a wide variety of skills through
hands-on project work. The Canadian 4-H Council was established in 1933
to coordinate all national 4-H affairs.
