Proposition 2 passes in California
California's Proposition 2 , which moved to end the practice of confining certain animals raised
for food in crates and cages, has passed with an overwhelming majority. It
applies to breeding pigs, egg laying hens and veal calves and will go into effect January 1, 2015.
