Quebec farmers in shock over euthanized chickens

“My pride in feeding Quebecers has turned into shame for the waste,” said Alain Bazinet, on the verge of tears.
Last week, the Saint-Hyacinthe farmer saw 62,000 of his chickens euthanized because of the workers’ strike paralyzing the Exceldor slaughterhouse in Saint-Anselme.
On Wednesday, Premier François Legault urged union members to agree to mediation to settle the dispute and stop the “indecent” waste of food.
