Features Business & Policy TradeOctober 31, 2008- Director-General Pascal Lamy, in a lecture at the University of California, Berkeley, on October 29 said “we know that trade opening creates greater efficiencies, encourages innovation and generates wealth. But this does not mean that trade opening is good for every person, every country, every time. Trade, especially inside the system of WTO rules, generates wealth. But the WTO cannot address income inequality inside the borders of any individual country.
