April 16, 2009- The Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan has received 2.7 million dollars for its ongoing expansion.

The money comes from the federal government through Western Economic Diversification.
The college is completing a two-storey diagnostic addition that will add three-thousand square meters of new space for labs and surgical suites.
There also is a special projects lab which will provide a more biosecure environment when dealing with animal diseases such as avian influenza, anthrax and rabies.
Construction should be finished next month.
The final phase of the expansion will see the old diagnostic labs renovated at an estimated cost of 10 million.
Those funds have yet to be secured.
