Two New Provincial Ag Ministers

January 20, 2010- Both Alberta and Ontario have new agricultural ministers this week.  Jack Hayden was named Alberta's new minister of agriculture and rural development, and Ontario has named Carol Mitchel  minister of agriculture, food and rural affairs.

Ontario have new agricultural ministers.  Jack Hayden was named
Alberta's new minister of agriculture and rural development, and
Ontario has named Carol Mitchel  minister of agriculture, food and
rural affairs.

Jack Hayden moves from his previous post as minister of infrastructure
into a portfolio rife with dissent, according to industry groups.The MLA for
Drumheller-Stettler, himself a farmer, replaces Highwood MLA George Groeneveld,
who is not included in the new cabinet.

Carol Mitchell is a two-term MPP for Huron-Bruce and a former parliamentary secretary to the minister of agriculture (2003-2006).  She replaces Prince Edward-Hastings MPP Leona Dombrowsky, who has been shuffled to the education portfolio.
