May 23, 2014 – Victoria Day offered young egg farmer Blake Jennings a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity — a change to meet Prince Charles. Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, arrived in Halifax on Monday and perused the Seaport Market in Halifax where Blake had the chance to talk with the Prince about his farm and egg farming in Canada.

“It was just a great honour,” said Blake when asked how he felt about this unique meeting. “I was shocked to be asked to talk with him! I don’t know anyone who even had the privilege to meet with him, it really was special.”

Prince Charles is known for his interest in agriculture, sustainability in farming practices and youth. “We talked about our farm in Nova Scotia, what we do to be environmentally responsible and the kind of feed we give to our animals,” says Blake.
