DETAILS: On July 8, a common eider was found dead on the island of Vejro, municipality of Lolland. The bird was found among several other dead wild birds of different species, but mostly eiders.

On July 16, the National Veterinary Institute confirmed highly pathogenic influenza A virus (H5N6) in the samples from one eider; the other samples were unsuitable for testing.
