Lilydale Wins New Product Award
Lilydale is pleased to announce that Roast & BoastTM turkey has been declared the winner of the best new product in the Deli, Meat and Seafood category in the Canadian Grand Prix New Product AwardsTM competition.
“All of us at Lilydale are extremely proud and excited to receive this prestigious award and to be able to bring Roast & BoastTM to the dinner tables of Canadian consumers,” says Lilydale President and CEO Ed Rodenburg.
The honour was announced at a gala event in Victoria, B.C. on May 26, 2008. Lilydale’s DaystartersTM turkey bacon was also named a finalist in the competition.
The accomplishment is one that vice-president of Marketing Lindsay Dunn says speaks to the company’s focus on product innovation.
“This recognition from the Grand Prix judges highlights Lilydale’s achievement in providing consumers with food choices that are truly innovative and that fit with their ever-changing needs for healthy and convenient products,” says Dunn.
Open to manufacturers and distributors of all sizes, the competition is sponsored by the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors (CCGD). Products are judged by a panel of 32 independent chefs, media representatives, nutritionists, grocery leaders and students, and selection is based on innovation, packaging and design, pricing, taste and nutritional value, and overall benefits to the
Roast & BoastTM answers the consumer call for a no-fuss traditional meal, producing a perfect golden brown turkey without all the work. The product is a whole, frozen turkey between 5-7 kg in size that goes directly from freezer to oven with no thawing or handling required. Ready in 4-5 hours, it is pre-seasoned and pre-basted and comes in its own roasting jacket.
