Poultry farmers at centre of Canada’s latest carbon pricing debate

Farmers, such as egg producer Kurt Siemens, have been persistently urging the federal government to grant them additional exemptions from the carbon price.

While fruit and vegetable growers already enjoy certain benefits, farmers are now pushing for further relief. Specifically, they are advocating for an exemption on natural gas and propane used in agricultural operations.
