Session description: Infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) is a contagious viral respiratory disease, primarily of chickens and gamebirds, that can cause elevated morbidity and mortality. It mainly infects small non-commercial chicken flocks but often spreads to larger commercial flocks as well. In this webinar, Dr. Denis Carrier will provide an overview of the disease, review the diagnostics, and share preventative measures that producers can implement to protect their flocks.
JAN. 22 | DISEASE THREAT: ENTEROCOCCUS CECORUM (E. CECORUM)

Session description: E. cecorum is a commensal bacterium of the gut microbiota of adult chickens. It has emerged over the last 20 years as a significant cause of locomotor disorders in Canada, partially sparked by the removal of antibiotics at the hatchery. In this webinar, Dr. Benoit Lanthier will provide an overview of the disease and review the diagnostics. While there is no specific solution yet, Lanthier will share success stories he’s had with some customers who were able to control it by hatching chicks in HatchCare hatcheries or at the farm. He’ll give some possible explanations for why this is helping to reduce the severity and incidence of the disease.
