Chicken farmers recently participated in three CFO Cares: Farmers to Food Banks events across London area to celebrate a total donation of 1,000 kg of chicken to the Salvation Army (Strathroy), London Food Bank, and Corner Cupboard (Aylmer).
“Thanks to the continued dedication of the Ontario chicken farming community, since 2015, the CFO Cares: Farmers to Food Banks program has donated over eight million chicken meals,” said Andrea Veldhuizen, CFO board director for CFO Cares & District 4.
“Proteins, like chicken, are among some of the most-needed items at food banks and we want to ensure that Ontario-grown chicken is readily available to Ontario families and food banks.”
MP Lianne Rood (MP for Lambton—Kent—Middlesex) and Councillor Brian Derbyshire (Strathroy City Council) joined local chicken farmers to celebrate the donation of 150 KG of chicken for the Strathroy Salvation Army.
MP Peter Fragiskatos (MP for London North Centre), MP Lindsay Mathyssen (MP for London—Fanshawe), and MPP Terence Kernaghan (MPP for London North Centre) joined local chicken farmers to celebrate the donation of over 700 KG of chicken for the London Food Bank.
MP Karen Vecchio (MP for Elgin-Middlesex-London), MPP Rob Flack (MPP for Elgin–Middlesex–London), and Mayor Jack Couckuyt (Mayor of Aylmer) joined local chicken farmers to celebrate the donation of 100 KG of chicken for the Aylmer corner Cupboard.
These separate donations of chicken were made by the Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO), through the CFO Cares: Farmers to Food Banks program, which enables chicken farmers to donate their chicken to food banks across Ontario.
The CFO Cares: Farmers to Food Banks program contributes over 1 million meals a year to local food banks. The CFO Cares: Farmers to Food Banks program works in partnership with Feed Ontario.
