U.S. Food Prices Jump

January 26, 2012 – Food prices rose significantly in the U.S. in 2011 – up six per cent from December 2010 to December 2011. Meanwhile average incomes have been stagnant for a decade and the median income fell 2.3 per cent from 2009 to 2011.
The U.S. food-at-home Consumer Price Index for beef is 11.5 percent higher; pork prices are 8.1 percent above December 2010; poultry prices are 4.8 percent above prices last year; and egg prices are 6.4 percent above the December 2010 level.

January 26, 2012 – Food prices

higher; pork prices are 8.1 percent above December 2010; poultry prices
are 4.8 percent above prices last year; and egg prices are 6.4 percent
above the December 2010 level.
