August 26, 2008 – For over 35 years, the national marketing agency for eggs has been known as the Canadian Egg Marketing Agency, often referred to by the acronym CEMA. As of yesterday, the agency will be known as the Egg Farmers of Canada.
Chair Laurent Souligny writes in a press release that the new name better reflects the organization.
Consumer research led to the name change. The agency found that people wanted to highlight the fact that the organization is farmers, Canadian, and dedicated to quality.
The result of the research is a new name, logo, and tagline.
The organization has also moved into a building located at: 21 Florence Street, Ottawa ON, K2P OW6, which it will occupy along with the Dairy Farmers of Canada, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and the Canadian Hatching Egg Producers.
Egg FArmers of Canada have also changed their web address to the easy to remember www.eggs.ca the official location for everything eggs. Please note that this also means that staff email addresses will end in eggs.ca.
