A new website by the PIC and the University of Guelph provides resources for anyone looking for a job in the Canadian poultry industry. Poultrycareers.ca.

May 10, 2013 – The Poultry Industry Council has collaborated with the University of Guelph’s Poultry Club to complete a new initiative to launch a website (poultrycareers.ca) devoted to careers in the Canadian turkey industry.

The goal of the website is to promote turkey industry careers to recent high school, college and university graduates as well as individuals who are looking to change fields or pursue research and additional careers available within the turkey industry.

Students from the Poultry Club interviewed industry personnel and wrote descriptions for each of the jobs featured within the website. The students contributed to this project to earn a credit, which gave them more knowledge and hands-on
experience in the turkey side of the poultry industry than a normal university course would have allowed.

The website will provide information for students and interested individuals regarding the careers and specific requirements and skills that are needed. It also features a series video interviews with current employees in the turkey industry – from farmers to inspectors and geneticists.
